Mr. Miller has over 30 years of investment research and management experience. At Incline Investment Advisors (“IIA”) Jeff plays an active role in managing the firm’s investment programs. He is the founder and former President of NewArc Investments Inc., now a subsidiary company of IIA. Jeff is also a regular contributor to Seeking Alpha where he has been ranked as one of the top two economics contributors for the past six years. His work is also republished on several other sites including Advisor Perspectives and the news bulletin of the National Association of Active Investment Managers.
Before IIA/NewArc Jeff was a college professor teaching public policy courses and quantitative methodology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Lawrence University. During this time he worked extensively on Wisconsin tax policy issues including the Tax Burden Study and the Wisconsin Expenditure Commission. His expertise on the shared revenue system led to consulting projects for the City of Milwaukee, the Alliance of Cities, and several counties.
Leaving the academic world in 1987, he moved to the Chicago Board Options Exchange leading the research team of a trading firm and conducting classes for beginning options traders. Before launching NewArc, he worked as a consultant for traders in options, futures, and stocks. He has been accepted as an expert witness in Federal Court on matters involving the effect of news on stock prices, market micro-structure, and the effectiveness of hedging strategies.
Dr. Miller (which is what the Michigan alumni association calls him) earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Michigan, specializing in quantitative analysis of public policy and economics. He has been a Registered Investment Advisor for more than 20 years. He has passed the following FINRA exams; Series 65 and 7. He has been married for almost forty years and has one son, who is currently a law student at the University of Iowa.
